catching us too wild

the beast of grace and grave

he and time together

take a turn

to wait in line.

let me down

let me off of your shoulders

i can’t see to far ahead and i wonder

if it were just you and me

in the ocean

you would sink me in the sea.

what i’ve got

i had learned

let it fair me well

to pick me up off my feet

and let me down

don’t let me down with it.

now that you are everything

you swore that curse to see

what to keep

what is mine

i wont take a dime

just your hands

and all your time.

call it bravery

what does it mean to me

there’s no need to win this war

we’re not who they’re fighting for.

but as their throats are on our knives

running out the longest time

and we’ve taken all their lives

one more time

like always

in my eyes.

leave me behind

let me be

just you and me

and we’ll go to where we please

let my hands pull you up

to the clouds on our birth

you’ll be birds and i’ll be trees.

bringing mountains to the top

above what we have done

what we swallowed down

you knew as well as i

a step too high

and we both die

but it sure was worth a try

just to find the last place left to hide

where the only eyes to catch us kids

and stop us blind and tied

was your green in these grey eyes

i will keep your world in line.

golden days they wear as skin

just leave my shoes untied

i’ll keep you close

here by my side

lovingly

for I

am just

a child.
