Adversity found a friend in me
The worst kind of enemy
Is always the one you can't hide from
The one in your head who in the night comes
You've got to find the light in you
Show yourself what you can do
Decide what you should do from there
Find out for what you really care

You try to make the most of it
Pull yourself back from the pit
No more shall you enter here
Steel yourself, guard from fear
Your much more than you used to be
Your better everyday, you'll see
It will all just be the past
Happiness for you shall last

Cry no more for old regret
Put aside all long distress
Sing with me a happy tune
Sit with me beneath the moon
You have found your redemption
The sweet taste of hard salvation
Sweeter still from the fight
With that old enemy of the night
