NO EXPECTATIONS

tiers & tiers
tiers upon tiers
of tears

like a great wedding cake
of grief

a Miss Havisham for real

cobwebbed expectations
setting one's self on fire
in a blaze of loss

by Marylebone Station she
sat down & wept
a policeman enquiring if "...Miss is alright?"

she gathers her
self together in a compact mirror
"Yes, I'm...fine. . .fine?"

but inside her
self is a. Dickens
of a tale to tell
