Sometimes when expectations are not met
It's usually cause of how high the bar was set
And how you treat me now, I will never forget
Cause sometimes I'm something you don't get

Where were you, when I needed inspiration
Work was always your sole destination
When I needed something to look up to
I never truly believed it would ever be you

I found it in the most profound places
With people who had the most recognizable faces
It only took Sixx seconds for me to realize
That the world is beautiful, though not in everybody's eyes

The shadows creep up ever so slightly
Now would be time for the lights to burn brightly
Can't expect what you want to be given
Gotta take what you can, if you can be driven

Where were you, when I needed inspiration
Work was always your sole destination
When I needed somebody to look up to
I never truly believed that it'd be you
