When parents bicker and fight
the children are left
in a wasteland
of shadowy facts
the rocks of absolute love
move and skitter
and the places where they were safe
no longer have footing
the attendant black crows
peck and harry.
Silence and tears blind the sky
and hush the lives
off the innocent who
die crying.
