Speak softly,
The words that leave your mouth
  Gently enter my soul
   Leaving their mark
    In the absence

Speak loudly,
 I hear them
  Laughing, crying, singing
   Dancing in my heart
    Loving

Speak surely,
So that I have no doubt
  When you’re gone
   When I’m alone
    When you’re in love

Speak beautifully,
 To remain true
  To remain pure
   To remain independent
    To remain you

Speak poetically,
 So I remain me
  For before I met you
   I didn’t have words

Speak honestly,
 And I will stay
  Even when it hurts
   Even when the words sting
    To give you my heart
