A struggle to sustain a persona that can't last.
Hovering over so many.
Intent on presenting self as superior.
A mortal's failure as time overcomes,
Fading beauty, luxurious things.
And attempts to recover and replace only illuminate
The desperate soul within.
Scratching and clawing to hold on
To those things with no substance.
A great fall when reality surfaces.
Comfort should be coveted
By the one suffering by their own ignorance.
Arrogance led them down this treacherous path,
Letting slip everything of real value.
And their only hope is to forgive self,
Perceive and accept they are capable of error,
And blossom into the person they wish to be.
