24 hours on four chicken nuggets
And an hour of compiled conversation
A roommate's fit in the middle of the street
She's drunk, screaming for chipotle,
A flailing toddler on the asphalt drive.
Then the mother, worn and wondering
Persuades the child to sit still in the car
Strapped into its seatbelt.
The doors lock
Just in case her courage returns
