The silence is no longer comforting
My heart which once beat slow
like the tide into the shore
Now races like an arrow leaving a bow
rapids over rocks across the sea floor

Sinking deeper into the skin I am in
Absorbing the world around me
like a flower does the rays
I soak in seldom glee
Is this how I'll spend the rest of my days?
