Challengers

Millions of stars sparkled in the heavens
As two young children sat filled with questions
On the green hill looking into the sky
They soon would depart saying their goodbyes

In search of knowledge they went their separate ways
On divided paths, their imaginations ablaze
But before they left, they agreed that one day
They would meet again and exchange the knowledge gained

The eldest of the two, thought it best to experience
The stars up close, to examine their brilliance
He put on his jacket colored white
Then prepared for the moment he would take flight

The youngest was ok with watching from a distance
Through his telescope he could watch all existence
He did all the equations to make sure it was alright
Now he would wait for the eldest to take flight

The engines gave off an enormous eruption
Everything will be fine was a bad assumption
They looked back to the stars feeling no pain
But they knew they would never meet again
The story of two children who were torn apart by their desire of knowledge
