Once on a ship drifting out at sea,
My heart and eyes, they searched for shore
You said you were my safe harbor,
I'm taking you home,
And tied my ship to moor

But you showed me not to trust your hands
Time after time deceived
Years passed, bound to your shifty sands
Time after time I turned the other cheek
An ocean of contempt surrounding you
Swimming in the hostile waters we stir
So many times you've tried to beat me down
With every stroke and kick, it hurts
But I keep fighting, for those I can't let down
The further we drift
The higher the ground
Until rock solid's how it feels to my sole
Until it doesn't have to hurt anymore
Started this one a few years ago, then recently picked it back up again.
