Talks about You

“Do you think he ever loved me?” I asked, awaiting the answer to a question that echoes in my head. She looked at me as if she was going to comfort me with a lie, but decided to tell the truth as she began, “He always told you that you deserved the world, but he never gave it to you. He always wanted you to have everything, but watched you struggle without it. He always told you how irreplaceable you were, but never once had you stand by his side permanently. Yes, I think he loved you. I think he loved you in a cowardly way that doesn’t know how to love. He’s right about all those things. His love is not the love you deserve."
