caverns

deep inside the caverns of your mind is where it lies

is it love

is it peace

is it happiness

is it something we need

deep inside the caverns of our mind we lie

we lie, to better ourselves

we lie, to stay with the ones we love

we lie, for our own gain

we lie, for time

but can time return what has been all along

what has never left?

deep inside the caverns of your mind is where it lies

the thing that once flourished, long ago

the thing that lies shriveled, old, wasted

the thing forgotten by many

the thing that many still search for

the thing that everybody needs.
