To go near is warm and dangerous

Don't go near the fire,

Phoenix!

Oh, you've still got a lot to learn.

You feel warm

as you get close,

But close enough

and you'll get burned.

I stare into the pit

as I warn you of this

Hypnotized by the movement

Like greater meaning is amiss.

A sudden change of air

and the heat

makes me aware

of some deep longing

for comfort

I guess we all share.
