I Will Stand
I stand united in a crowd of my brothers
In the streets where “every man is created equal”
On a righteous path in the presidents city
No longer shall I fear the hose of the hydrant
Or the bite of the dogs and twirling of the batons
No longer shall I sit
Sit with my head bowed
On the backs of the buses and the bottoms of society
In my designated place in the land of the free
No longer shall I run
Run from the crosses of the south
And the ropes of the oak trees
No, I shall stand and overcome
Nay, we shall overcome
Guided by the light of our dreams
The hopes of our forefathers
And the vision of our children
I stand united in a crowd of my brothers
