Streets filled with people
Shining lights in the sky twinkle like stars
People gaze in wonder at the tower
Touching the sky
The beautiful language touching the air,
Cheese and chocolate melt in the mouth.
Fresh scents of bread intoxicate people on the street.
Wine glasses clink,
And people are falling in love.
Pieces of art hang from the walls
But night is falling
The streets start to clear;
First is the elderly
Next, the children and their games
And last, the tourists gazing around in awe
As the city of love starts to quiet for the night.
The lights still twinkle,
But it's not the same from within the day
A black cat stalks across the scene
As lights from surrounding houses go out
Click, click, click
Night continues for hours
Seems like months for some
Then, all prayers are answered
And the sun kisses the sky once more
Children come out from their rooms
To enjoy the world
Like they did before.
I wrote this in my grade ten English class, my teacher LOVED this poem. I have never been to Paris, but I would love to some day. Feedback would be lovely.
