You could make a promise today
and break it tomorrow
Not because you're terrible
But because you have no say
What you feel today won't be guaranteed week from now
Life is one huge blob of oblivion
And promises make us feel in control
Like we actually have a say

Promises are a selfish thing
Because you might really mean it
But you don't know how how fast that could change

Breaking promises is not about being heartless
It's about being human
And it's about time we understand that
Even the most loyal and trustworthy people break promises
And that is okay
