eyelids drooping over the unseen pupils

they flicker and flutter as they fight to stay up

but once again

they collapse

too weak to carry on

they take a few seconds to pull themselves together

getting mentally prepared for their next attempt

and then with one more heaving breath

they muster the force within them to flip

revealing for a split second

a sea of green

that was hidden

so well

but the impact of the weight that rested upon them was too much

once again

the eyelids

were defeated

by

the unstoppable force

that was

sleep.
