Dec 2015
There are three elements common to all avalanches
a steep angle
a smooth surface
and a trigger.

When the crown broke
and the mountain came down
I gasped
as I fell into the blue swirling light
and was consumed by the churning snow.

Once the debris stopped
I was trapped beneath a muffled world
running out of breath.
