I lay alone here at night
Feeling the cool breeze blow through the window
Pondering ones existence and attributing meaning to it all
I lay alone here at night
thinking of what might of been
past regrets
re-writing personal history
I lay alone here at night
Peeking through the open slits in my blinds
I see the stars that light the night sky
Each one a solar system with planets and ecosystems all of their own
I see the direction of time
All the living beings that have trod here before me
I see a universe 14 billion years in the making
A planet so rich of life it as if the divine intended it that way
I hear birds chirping
dogs barking
cars driving
I see the inconsequential fight against time
The fighters
The lovers
The winners
The losers
The rise and fall of nations
the Ideaologies that cause seperation
I see the greatness in man
The innovation
The kindness
The progression
The determination
I lay alone here at night
Yet I'm connected to everything and everyone who has, is or will have existed
