Sally falls asleep tonight,
with a thousand thoughts running inside.
But a thousand thoughts were all about you,
like a poem she'd recite.
Sally pieced a thousand thoughts together,
to match that pondering question.
Was the love all along at its very last station?
Sally could have saved some pride.
That bit of diginity for a lady to move on her ride.
Sally could have been up there.
For you to know her worth and care.
Sally could have played you out.
For you to feel insecure with doubts.
Sally could have kept you in.
For you to know on ocassions,
it's you she wouldn't bring.
Sally could have made you green.
For you to know the boys could run their hands
wilder than you'd seen.
But a thousand thoughts draws Sally back,
for her "could have", she never could.
She never got close to those thousand thoughts,
if only Sally would.
