I was shaking words and trembling lips
you were hearty laughs and butterflies
Some people would say we were meant for each other but that was far from the truth
on the surface there was long glances and fluttered lashes
underneath there was pain and long tired sighs
I felt the lifeless touch and the not so gentle caress
you heard the annoyance and anger underlining my tone
what we had was puppy love and in the end even puppies die
