Butterflies in a Lunchbox

I live inside these walls.

I know no other way.

They are as cold as steel,

And keep the light at bay.

I’m not alone however,

There’s tens of us in here.

Locked in solitude,

But never lost to fear.

Then one day a wall did open,

And we scattered to the winds.

Flapping wings of amber glass.

Free of the walls, but lost of friends.

In that instance I gained such freedom,

But we lost our power.

The world for our togetherness.

Oh look a flower.
