she thought she was alone.

what was once soft and sweet,

vanished.

instead came a dark cloud.

what was once beautiful and true,

vanished.

a broken heart and a twisted mind

came.

and.

stayed.

every teardrop was a waterfall.

the pieces were like shattered glass,

too little to pick up,

sharp.

and.

deadly.

she thought she was alone.

she didn’t see

the small, tiny,

flickering flame

that was there the whole time.

she thought she was alone.

she.

thought.

wrong.
