Oct 2011
I slowly and deliberately cross
off the date on the calender. One more day
doesn't seem like such a loss to me!
I imagine myself blowing away the flickering flame
of the birthday candles.

It's almost here!
The one day that is completely mine.
The one day that it feels like
the sun, the moon, and the stars
would obey me
if I told them to.
When I can have all the fun things I want to do.

I close my eyes and wish
A secret with
But don't ask me to tell
'cuz I won't.

And like the swish of a magic spell
fading away
My day leaves behind fine memories
and new gifts.
