Decaying graveyard flowers
rotting time down drains
painful memories sour the day
and only grief remains

The fading light gives way
to death's dark shadowed wake
and roses fall from loving arms
too weak to undertake

Veils cover bloodshot eyes
and whimpers turn to sobs
mourners fill the church inside
another soul's been robbed

For death denotes finality
fading time will stop
the cemetery houses many men
buried prone in their plot

There's no avoiding time's
ruthlessly ticking clock
the secret is to live your days
as if tomorrow's locked

But death is a certain path
befalling all us mortals
rejoice in life and live
realising all potentials
