The fields are green now, dark days have gone
Everywhere warms to the heat of the sun
Birds, leaves and flowers, seems everyone's here
To bid welcome to the birth of a tear

Early days, young days, discovering how, when and where
The world is your oyster, you haven't a care
Days of excitement, wonder and fear
A natural day in the life of a tear

The years roll away, how happy you are
You share with each other that far away star
Slowly but surely the grey hairs appear
As time goes on in the life of a tear

When you slow down at last, every step is a pain
Just like the moon you're beginning to wane
Your memories bring smiles but also brings fear
The days grow short in the life of a tear

The winter's arrived, your breathing is slow
Your loved one's been gone a year or more now
With a sigh you whisper farewell to the year
And nobody sees the death of a tear.
