Oh, how could I ever let you go?
The life I live within me
is no longer my own.
You are a lovely exotic angel
with your midnight hair
and midnight eyes like portals to worlds unknown
softly seeks to absorb my soul
the irresistible draw of your lovely face and heavenly form I feel!
Oh, I can compare you to no creature on earth.
Oh, how you have caused me to lose all reason!
Oh, my foolish pride died long ago.
Died long ago when first I gazed into your eyes
those portals to heavenly worlds unknown.
Oh, how they draw my soul!
Oh, how you could hurt me so!
Oh, I have died a thousand deaths
and lived a thousand lives.
A thousand deaths from all my thought and fear
that from me your love would forever be lost
and a thousand blessed lives with thoughts of you by my side
of your warn soft arms and cherry red lips.
Oh, how I love you so!
In my deepest thoughts more than I could have ever known.
Oh, my sweet lovely bird of song
Oh, how you put all others to shame!
The early morning song of the birds of spring
is but a harsh noise in your compare.
You are my sweet elusive angel
with dark and rolling eyes
eyes that speak of mysteries all unknown.
And after you I can only pursue
and my heart make its desperate plea!
