Love has but one Author
Love's Author has but one track
What will it take for me to make it back

Who am I to control my heart?
Who am I to conceal the key
The key that lets my heart see

I've traveled the tracks of success
I've traveled the tracks of misplaced hope
Lived a life that simply found so many different ways to cope

The tracks I chose delivered on the promise set forth
The tracks I chose led to my first love: success, security, and the pride of life
A love that ignores the Author and leaves me empty inside and full of strife

An empty soul that longs for so much more
An empty heart that knoweth not its Author's song
But instead hopelessly seeks to belong

The walls that now I climb are the product of the track I chose
These walls were not the Author's design
They serve daily to remind me of all that I wanted to be mine

The track I've traveled seemed the easy path
The track I've traveled led to desolation
I've been derailed and now choose another track to a different destination

Today I stand atop the walls
Today I see for the first time in a long time
What the Author wanted to make mine

Love has but one Author
Love's Author has but one track
By his mercy, I've made it back.
