May 2015
There used to be butterflies
They've been dormant, asleep
Buried under years
Of lies and deceit.
All of a sudden,
They are alive and well;
For better or worse,
It's too early to tell.
Secrets dance behind sparkling eyes
Cheeks heated with passion
Heartfelt giggles
and soft sighs.
Could it be possible?
Is it true?
That there is a connection
Between the two of you.
Just when your hopes are at a high
You take a step back,
Maybe he's not just shy.
Maybe the truth was there all along
Like a gentle whisper
From a faraway song.
You stare at the sky
In the darkness of night
And watch as the butterflies
Take their flight.
Dazed and confused
You wave goodbye
With a million questions
And no answers why.
