Breathe Underwater
All this drowning has taught me
To breathe underwater.
The salt fills my lungs
And drains the blood from my cells-
Like the women who milk the cows.
The tide grows stronger with every wave
That crashes against my shore
And I don't know how much longer
This ship can hold on.
