there are those of you who are alike, you are defined as “normal”

then there is out kind
those of us who walk this world with fire in our eyes
We are a different breed.
few and far between
but always,
there.

We bear a deep rooted mark,
a beautiful deep shade of indigo
it is a mark you cannot see or feel
but a mark no less

We are not like you
We think not with out heads,
but with our hearts
We do not feel with our skin
We feel with our soul.

Your school system,
kills us

Your teachers tell us
“Sit down, shut up and pay attention,
I have all the answers”.
don’t make me laugh

We show you our gifts, our special talents.
You label us as disruptive and hyperactive.
You call us ADD and ADHD.
You suppress us with pills.
We only feel you oppress us.

You think that by beating us down and locking away our gifts,
You will get us to follow your system.

that won’t happen
because we are special
because we bear the mark

We may seem sweet,
but don’t cross us.

We have fire in our eyes so hot
it will burn holes in your soul
We have minds so sharp
they could cut you in half
We have caustic, whip like tongues
that could tear you apart in a heartbeat.

so no,
we won’t sit down shut up and pay attention
we will raise hell,
until you accept us as your equal
and give us the respect we deserve,
need

such is the curse of the mark we bear
such is the blessing of the mark we bear
