I was strong once.
Like a fortress
with impenetrable walls,
a beacon across the land.
She would crawl through the mire
begging me
to quench her inferno
& I would succumb
inside her
own sweet fort
for what felt like forever,
I let her win,
always seize the moment
to experience the stars.
And my stones
came
tumbling down.
I have none to rest
now
broken,
scars
on her chin.
