Oh, how you are
the very music and beating heart
of my soul.
Oh, if you are
ever taken from me
then my life would be of no worth.
A thing of pain and hurt!
A thing to be taken
and thrown far away.
Oh, your name and face
keep repeating through my mind
like an endless spiral.
Oh, you are life!
And you are love!
and the warmth of your heart
warms my wayward soul.
Oh, your name and face
forever are engraved upon my mind and heart.
Nature seems to sing of you
a love song floating on the wind
through every tree and flower
that blooms in the field.
They only seem to bloom for you.
Oh, my heart and mind are torn asunder
from a great sadness that you may never be mine.
Oh, you are the very flower of creation.
The loveliest creature that nature and God
has ever had the mind and imagination to make.
Oh, my mind and heart
is racked with the thought of you
and I am scourged in my soul.
A pain and longing that touches
the very deep center of my soul.
Oh, forgive me for wanting your love
if you do not want me
if you think me a thing repulsive
like the worms that crawl
through the grave of a dead man.
Oh, I have such a deep longing
with every beat of my heart.
A longing that will not let you go.
Oh, I can never turn my heart from you
though all the powers of heaven and hell
beat there fury against me.
Oh, if I ever lose you my precious love
you the very crown of creation
then I am lost forever.
