"Hey, Black Child"
Hey, Black Child
Do you know who you are?
Who you really are.
Do you know you can be?
What you want to be.
If you try to be,
What you can be...
Hey, black child.
Do you know who you are?
Who you really are.
Do you know you're a star?
Do you know that you shine,
So bright in His eyes?
Do you know that what people say doesn't matter?
Hey, Black Child
Do you know where you are going?
Where you're really headed.
Do you know you can learn;
If only you'd dive into it head first.
If you try, and fail, but get back up;
What you can learn is mistakes is more than enough.
Hey Black Child,
Do you know you are strong?
Hey black child,
You're not alone.
Hey black child,
Do you know you can do,
Whatever is on your heart;
If only you try to.
Hey black child,
O child of God.
What you can do,
If you'd open your eyes.
Hey Black Child,
Learn what you must know.
Hey black child,
Don't worry about it, just grow.
Hey black child,
Do what you know how.
Hey black child,
Never dumb yourself down.
Hey black child,
Be all that you can be.
Hey black child,
You inspire me, to be me.
