Immortal Eve, goddess,
don’t just take a bite
chew and swallow,

but fallen angel,
savor the crisp sweet
essence slipping
from your lips.

Naughty god,
take the second bite,
moon your eyes
and curl your mouth
around truth’s heart.

human being,
gnaw the pale yellow
until it browns,
leave God’s forbidden red
a gnarled husk, hardened
black hearts exposed.
