Poems
Mar 2015
for your mother
do you remember that morning
we sat drinking coffee long enough
for you to be late to work
and me to be late to school
you called me son
and i used to believe it
you asked me to never leave her
and i promised i wouldn’t
i think about that morning often
you didn’t dare meet my eyes the last time
i bumped into you at the market
that still hurts me
i’m sorry i left her.
