oh the tales of deception we weave
with words of love, only to recede
our faces beam with wrinkle smiles
hiding the history of countless lies

has the years eroded our feelings
in search of new days and meanings
does our love for each other, matter
is it time for it to be put out to pasture

that sparkle in the eyes, slowly fizzle
dampen by lifes endless drizzle
yet we still hold on to each other
hoping there's more than this, together
