Matchbooks burn but so does time.
Like trick candles impossible to blow out,
Tick tock time goes on.
Watching the clock will slow it down,
But constant time continues and it's a waste.
If time were a spice it would be bittersweet,
Adding flavor but not changing the taste.
Still tasteless and forced down our throats.
Not hungry for it, we need it to survive.
Survival is based off the moments used
To keep a steady heartbeat.
The beat of the heart tick, tocks
Matching the natural sway of the clock.
Thus time is close to our hearts.
