If words could dance on a page
would they tip-toe into your heart
would they swing across the page
would they twist and turn all night

They can bring you to sights unseen
they can melt your heart, make you sing
they can make you rise out of your seat
they can make you run fast on your feet

Words often crumple to the floor and fall
tattered words left to weather in the sun
they seem to stay right where they are
like litter sprayed across a broken wall

Pick up a book see what reads on the page
fill your minds with unspoken expressions
go to all the places your imagination wills
a menagerie of collected thoughts and ideals

A poet is a beggar stealing words for free
a writer is a soul warming his own heart
a reader on the other hand is a dreamer
with thoughts of traveling to distant parts

If words could dance on a page
would they tip-toe into your heart
would they swing across the page
would they twist and turn all night
