Your words blow through and stay like nats in my hair
Knotting my every nerve so tight that I cannot bear
The simple fact that with the nats come love
You always demonstrate what you are capable of
Tears escape only after your presence has gone
They travel fast and swift, trying to move on
But the tears leave dry scars for all to see
Open your eyes, your words hurt me
The fog and mist all try to minimize
Your countless beatings through all the lies
Yet I see sunshine while you only see rain
No longer will I follow your example and complain
A new breeze has wafted on by
It’s the hope that keeps me smiling at the sky
No longer will you alone hold me back
I was never yours to attack
