She was born with closed eyes but she still saw the light.
As she held onto her mother’s hand,
Holding on for dear life.

This girl,
She was a determined dreamer.
Her open eyes were the window to her world,
They spoke the words her mouth would not,
The door to her emotions is what they were.

But one day the curtains to her precious eyes slowly started to shut.
She no longer saw the light.
They didn’t speak the words her mouth was too scared to say.

The door to her emotions was locked.

She reached out for her worrying mother’s hand,
Holding on for dear life.
All she wanted was to see the light again.
It was the one thing she could not.
Her mother told her…

“Your eyes don’t give you happiness or sight,
Somebody without eyes could be happier with sight.
But you have a choice!”
But the girl shot back
“You can’t choose happiness or sadness,
You can’t choose to see the light or the dark!”

“I don’t want to see something that’s not there!”

All her mother said was..
“Your eyes can speak a thousand words,
Open them,
You’ll be surprised”

So one day the curtains to her eyes slowly started to open.
She started to see the light again.
They started speaking the words her mouth would not.
The key to her locked eyes was finally found.
All she had to do was believe.
Believe and realise all she ever wanted was right there.

All she had to do was look.
