Smothered in affection
Afflicted by a desire;
Journey on dreamer
But ever only in dreams.
Reality only ever mirrors
And poorly.

Gone is the once wondrous apathy
Or at least the premise I clung to
In shadows, ever hidden
Wary of being discovered.

As it is in most tales,
The discovery was made
Providing glorious respite,
Or so it seemed.
But dreams realized
Destroy a heart that yearns
And the selfish gift that hides.
