Life is not a story

I know I can't be a storybook princess So I don't know why I expect a prince Expect a true love A happily ever after I guess I suppose everyone should have a chance at it But that's not how life works Is it? Life is full of ups and downs You have to make of it what you can The people you meet...they aren't necessarily your destiny You have to take them as they are and make your own happily ever after Be happy and fall in love if you can But don't expect it Realize what you are Who you are And appreciate what you have while you have it Because life is not a story You don't have guarantees Or spells that can change everything at a moment's notice -- reverse death, induce love, bring happiness to all You have to be your own magic spell Your own hero, your own prince Save yourself No one else is coming
