Your eyes sink back, hiding
Tempting
Warring between blue and grey
Dark pearls in a glaze of white
The sun sprinkles light
Over the tints of magic in the sidewalk
And I am painfully aware
Of your arm around my shoulder
And it beckons for rain
Warm, heavy rain
Washing rain
A flood to drown our essence
But I can see that sun
And the glitters of the sidewalk
That reflect in your steely eyes
And maybe it’s because you know I like the rain too much
Maybe it’s because I’m already drowning
And maybe it’s because you’re already floating
That you aren’t so aware of my shoulder
