She fixes my bed and sings me to sleep;
Her arms are my fortress when my heart goes weak.
I can call to her when I’m starving,
Diligently she prepares the blessings; I’m full ‘til evening.

Time seemed very short when I was a kid;
I never noticed when the time came she needed to leave.
Her motherly love is like that of God’s,
We need not to do much; she already did that for us.

She possesses both weakness and strength;
Her worth is far more than the world’s greatest gems.
She deserves praises as high as her soprano voice’s range,
But she keeps a humble state; she knows that all the glory is only God’s to take.

My mother, she’s like a wildflower;
She blooms wherever God takes her.
I love her because she loved me first.

“Happy Mother’s Day!”
The idea is to appreciate, but it only reaches the surface.
For if I were to express to you mine,
It would take us time until the planets are perfectly aligned.

I hope this simple poem would suffice for now,
This is only what time and our distance could allow.
We couldn’t wait for you to be with us again.
We could only chat and video call each other until then.

His head –
Filled with knowledge and wisdom of a true father.
He doesn’t give any credit to anyone but only to the Heavenly Father.

His eyes –
Sees things far ahead.
He knows when we could get into trouble, so he leaves us with a prayer instead.

His ears –
Are good for listening.
He makes sure to keep them open for those who are needy.

His mouth –
Holds back judgment and condemnation.
Often silent but speaks with wisdom and humor whenever it fits the occasion.

His shoulders –
Broad and sturdy.
Good for carrying heavy stuff and a father’s burden.

His arms –
Strong and steady.
Good for protection and support when we’re unsteady.

His hands –
Wide, with long fingers
That leads and disciplines, works with diligence, and cares tenderly.

His heart –
Full of courage and compassion.
One of the reasons I admire him so.

His legs –
Firm and tough,
Made by the years he spent walking on the right path even when it gets rough.

The gracious love of God is like that of my dad’s.
Though we fail and disappoint him, he doesn’t take note of how many times.
He disciplines us, sure. But that’s only because it’s the right thing to do.
I’m grateful. Our family is blessed to have a father who is faithful—
One who fears the Lord and the reason our family stays accord.
I love you, Daddy. You’re my hero, and one of the reasons I feel beautiful in front of a mirror.

Your British accent
Sometimes I can’t comprehend
And your quirky attitude
Makes me a little nervous too

It didn’t take much time
I found out you’re just fine
I see you’re trying to build a bridge
Between me and other trainees

One thing I noticed though
Thy hazel brown eyes
This I know
Rarely I see, eyes like thine

It’d be a pleasure to stare
Through the windows of thy soul’s care
But it’s too awkward to look
So it’s only a five-second moment that I took

An unexpected acquaintance
I had no idea for the first time
The comfort of me talking to you
Has brought happiness to me too

I may not like the smell of a cigarette
I may not like the part of you smoking a stick
But I’ll remember its scent on your fingers
On my cheek, it lingers

One rainy day
I was waiting for your text to come and say, “Hey”
But I knew I was waiting for nothing
When you started to go your own way

It was one sunny day
I prayed to God for everything to be okay
But my heart and went into disarray
When you said you can no longer stay

Gone are the beautiful yesterdays
When we used to spend moments with “hoorays”
Long are the days when a smile displays on my face
I am left astray

But I have to move on anyway
I had to believe that my sun is gonna show up one day
And I’m gonna come out of my dismay

I have no regrets for letting you go away
But I still say to myself, “I hope he has stayed.”
