Metaphor
Patrick Bertoni Apr 2015
Anger is a red cloud
It's a thunderbolt ready to strike,
Anger is a roused hornet,
who's space has been invaded.
Anger is a sweltering fire
that is fanned by a whirling wind.

Nature (Final Poem)
Patrick Bertoni Apr 2015
Hummingbirds zipping from flower to flower,
drinking the sweet nectar that flow from their blooms;
Never ceasing, darting to and fro,
these tiny bundles of energy are always a delightful surprise
when they momentarily catch my eye-
and in a flash they are gone!

Letter

Dear Bed,
You are always so comforting and inviting,
As I sit late at night doing homework,
it seems as though you are calling to me.
I wish that I could find refuge in your restful abode,
Numbers, problems, words, begin to whirl in front of my eyes,
as my head nods heavily, and my eyelids droop lower and lower,
Bed, O sweet bed, the homework will have to wait till tomorrow.

Success
                                                                                                                       Success
We see what we have done has brought us
But as we approach the end of the staircase,
We work and work at what seems to give us a little gain,
that is very steep but still in sight.
Success is a spiraling staircase going into the sky
The road to it is not always easy,
Success

Sonnet
Patrick Bertoni Apr 2015
Often when I sit daydreaming of things
my mind wonders to more pleasant thoughts
I think of bright sunny mornings
slowly awakening to a pleasing sensation
Of a crackling, sizzling sound
Of a mouth-watering, savory smell
Of a crumbling and crunching
Of my hearts one desire - bacon!
One taste and I'm flying above the clouds
Toward the brightness of the sun
My mind is filled with a song
And tales of treasures of old
But sadly these memories are all that remain
As I sit eating my brussel sprouts plain!

Haiku

Looking at the sun,
Makes the afternoon brighter,
While sitting on grass.
