Silent but Deadly.
Thomas O' Dowd Jan 2018
Some like to hold it in, building up the suction,
Others like to release in a full scale eruption,
But I admire those who fail to lift a leg,
Quite how they do it is a case for Mystic Meg.

The odour is horrific, the natural born gas,
A twenty pint release towards the back of mass,
The guilty shifts uneasily, says a quiet prayer,
He who smelt it dealt it, surely that's not fair.

There is little ping but boy there is a pong,
Happening at mass there must be something wrong,
Worse is to come, there is the follow through,
It certainly isn't me, it has to be you.

Silent but deadly, flatulence at its best,
Ten out of ten passes every test,
Open the window, open the ****** door,
Before the feared assassin begins to strike once more.

Speed Kills.
Thomas O' Dowd Jan 2018
By the time I write this sonnet,
A child may crash against the bonnet,
Of a car whose driver's blunder,
Leaves a family torn asunder,
What was the hurry, what was the need,
To travel at such a deathly speed?,
Those who speed must have no brain,
Do they even realise the pain,
they cause the wretched slaughter?,
A family minus son or daughter,
They don't realise, they just don't think,
Are they blinded by drugs or drink?,
My message is clear,I avoid all frills,
Please slow down because SPEED KILLS.

Ode to Delores.
Thomas O' Dowd Jan 2018
Fame for you wasn't what mattered,
It left you lonely, sad and shattered,
You couldn't distinguish day from night,
As you were cast into the limelight.

You tried to play the perfect role,
But the fame game swallowed you whole,
And at the height of the band's success,
You began to love life less and less.

You persevered, you saw it through,
Realising singing was what you were born to do,
Your children helped you find the ways,
To help you through your darkest days.

Your songs helped me through times of sadness and elation,
I turned to you as my inspiration,
The innocence of youth in "Just my Imagination",
Contrasted with the pain of addiction in "Salvation,"

Thought there were many times you did dismay,
Your legacy saw you conquer Europe, Asia and the USA,
A gifted artist one of the very best,
May God grant you eternal rest.
Tribute to the late Delores O' Riordan lead singer of Irish rock group "The Cranberries,!
