Meantime
Paige Walker Feb 2012
A daisy haunted by sunlight
A painter of shadows
Under the moon shining bright

An audience that follows
Eyes weary
Like those of a barn swallow

Promises stretched like a tightrope
I'm an acrobat
On a slippery *****

A writer with aching hands
Cursive amongst the draft
Before it takes a stand

Young
Paige Walker Feb 2012
People say that I'm young;
Having lived or existed for only a short amount of time
Inexperienced with two fists full of optimism and enthusiasm

I am young
I hold hope in my smooth hands
I don't bare deep set lines of worry and surprise
I have plum circles of sleepless nights under my eyes

Worry rests there

Things Left Unsaid
Paige Walker Dec 2011
Patience is what we know
Smiles kept in a jar on the window sill

I* miss you's sent out into space

Luck, lust, longing and love
Ocean water is our distance
Voids filled with promised letters
Emptiness that makes the heart go numb

Yellowed photographs hang on the wall
Observing the life that is living in front of them
Unnoted

Grace
Paige Walker Dec 2011
I got caught trying to hold the moon today
I wish I could say
That I let go with grace
But instead my fingers curled into a tighter embrace
I wanted more than anything
To see the season of spring
To express a wordless apology
Overcome with emotion that would soon leave a devoured me

Rain
Paige Walker Nov 2011
The branches shook in the wind,
sending more drops to deform the writing.
Puddles surrounding,
it is soon to be drowned.

Sitting under a park bench.
Left and forgotten.
The Sunday funnies are no longer funny,
the news is no longer important, and
the score on the Giants game debatable.
It starts to pour.

Rain washes away footprints,
chalk and spilled ice cream cones.
It even washes away the news when forgotten,
under a park bench on a Thursday evening.

I Left My Heart in Oceanside
Paige Walker Nov 2011
You with your bedroom eyes
Soulful, piercing and wise
Raw emotion
And total devotion
Your Hemingway jawline
And your bottle half full of wine

Substance overcomes shyness
But it never oversteps your kindness
A smile that can break millions
Unfortunately you've captured the heart of a civilian

There is a distance
That makes me lean towards the path of least resistance
Since Baby, we're living on borrowed time
Waiting on that day where you can finally be mine.

Distance
Paige Walker Nov 2011
We explored each others bodies and whispered sweet nothings.
Our song came on.
The connection between us surfaced,
so it's ridged edges could be seen and gentle hands could glide across it.
Knowing that it exist.
The thing we fear the most,
out in the open.
Leading to an emotional want,
that in this moment could only be explained physically.
Bliss overcame us as our naked bodies lay in perfect union next to each other,
with a desperate need to be closer.
A deep slumber fell upon us,
as the chill of forty degree weather caressed us under a blanket.
There we were,
two lovers.
Satisfied and safe from the distance.
