What Defines Success?

What defines success

If not the glimmer

of a coin.

And what defines success

Other than the weight

Of a name

Known by others.

But what defines success

If not the antonym

To peace.

What defines success

When dry tears

Lie beneath gold plating.

What defines success

Shouldn’t be that of money,

But that of emotion.

A sense that life,

Though unfinished,

Has come to a place

Worthy of ending.

What defines success

Shouldn’t be a suit and tie.

But a steady smile.

One shaped by trial,

Yet still standing.
